I’ll be there on Saturday with the following training:
D-36. (10:15 to 12:15) Supporting Traumatized Children in the Classroom
In today’s cultural climate, many of the children in our classrooms have experienced some type of trauma. This
workshop will examine the various traumas children can experience and how they affect a child’s growth and
development. Participants will explore various ways to provide a trauma sensitive environment for 3 to 5 year
olds and methods that support the behaviors that might ensue
Helen Fern, Oregon Registry Master Trainer; Set Two in Special Needs; Ages: 3-5
EF-52. (1:30 to 4:45) Sticks and Stones: Connecting Children with Nature
Modern children spend most of their time indoors engaging with electronics. Studies have shown that many of
our maladies can be lessened or even overcome by interaction with the natural world. This training session will
explore the ways outdoor play can promote healthy development of the whole child and ways to bring these
experiences into a childcare setting.
